Session 1 - 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Introduction to Oracle Application Express
David Peake, Oracle Corporation
Learn for yourself just why Oracle Application Express is such a powerful, easy to use development tool. This session is designed to give you an overview of the tool complete with demonstrations on how you can maximize your Oracle Database investment. This session is based on APEX 4.2 and all of the brilliant new features that make development even easier and more productive.

Session 2 - 10:15-11:15 a.m.

Application Express Page Types
ACEDMartin D’Souza, ClariFit
This session will be 90 percent demonstration and will take you through building many different pages including reports, forms, charts, calendars, trees, and more. Link the pages together and in an hour you have a comprehensive application.

Session 3 - 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Dynamic Actions
ACEDMartin D’Souza, ClariFit and David Peake, Oracle Corporation
This session will start by showing you how you can use JavaScript and AJAX to integrate client-side interactivity. After showing you the hard way to develop such functionality for those limited few who are proficient with JavaScript, the session will then show how the rest of us can easily integrate the same functionality declaratively using Dynamic Actions.

Session 4 - 1:30-2:30 p.m.

ACEDMartin D’Souza, ClariFit
Now that APEX plugins have been around for a while, many developers have started to implement them in their applications. Are you a developer that's curious about how to take it one step further and develop your own plugin? This presentation will review what plugins are and provide you with the information required to start developing your own plugins.

Session 5 - 2:45-3:45 p.m.

SQL Developer and SQL Developer Data Modeler
David Peake, Oracle Corporation
SQL Developer Data Modeler is built into SQL Developer and they are free tools for managing database components. Learn how to start your development off correctly by modeling the entities and attributes and then implementing your models into tables. Next the session will examine some of the many capabilities built into SQL Developer. Every application developer should be highly proficient in using these tools.

Hands-on Labs - 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Application Express Hands-on Labs
Martin D’Souza, ClariFit and David Peake, Oracle Corporation
Bring your own laptop to install Oracle VirtualBox and the Database Application Development VM. This image includes the latest version of Application Express and SQL Developer and is loaded with numerous Oracle By Examples (OBEs) from the Oracle Learning Library (http://www.oracle.com/oll).

Prior to the start of the conference participants need to download Oracle VM VirtualBox from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/downloads/index.html

Secondly they need to download the VM Pre-built Appliance from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/databaseappdev-vm-161299.html

Day 2 - November 6th Auckland / November 9th Melbourne

Session 6 - 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Oracle Database Cloud
David Peake, Oracle Corporation

Session 7 - 10:15-11:15 a.m.

Using Application Express to Build Mobile Applications
David Peake, Oracle Corporation
Application Express 4.2 introduces the ability to declaratively define mobile pages and applications. Application Express mobile applications can run on any mobile device that has a web browser. This session will take you through how to design and build this new paradigm of applications.

Session 8 - 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Application Express Debugging Tools & Techniques
ACEDMartin D’Souza, ClariFit
Similar to other languages and frameworks Application Express offers a lot of excellent tools to debug and instrument your application. It will also cover other free third party tools which compliment Application Express's debugging features.

Session 9 - 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Securing Application Express Applications

ACEDMartin D’Souza, ClariFit
Security is always a major concern when developing applications. Application Express comes with some built-in features that help you lock down your application and prevent malicious attacks in your application. Various design techniques and database features will also be covered.

Session 10 - 2:45-3:45 p.m.

Administering & Deploying Application Express Applications

David Peake, Oracle Corporation
